About
Cryptaurus is a crypto reference for people who are just starting out. We explain in plain words how cryptocurrency, wallets, exchanges and transfers work, and we warn you in advance about the mistakes that cost beginners money. We don't sell crypto or services, we don't build rankings, and we don't get paid when you sign up on an exchange through our link.
Who this reference is for
It is for people who are only beginning to figure out crypto and may not yet know what to call the thing they are looking for. You can read it without a background in finance or technology, because we explain unfamiliar words as they come up in the text.
The reference is written around practical tasks, for example how to send money to family abroad, protect savings during high inflation or get paid for freelance work. If you are not sure yet whether you need crypto at all, start with the page getting started with crypto.
Cryptaurus is published in four languages. The Russian version is written for readers in Russian-speaking countries, the Spanish one for Latin America and the Portuguese one for Brazil, while the English version is open to everyone else.
What you will find on the site
The material is grouped into the sections of the top menu:
| Section | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Actions | step-by-step instructions |
| How crypto works | explanations of concepts |
| Security | protection from fraud |
| Taxes | rules by country |
| Coins | crypto profiles |
| Services | exchange and wallet reviews |
The instructions in "Actions" take you from a task to a result: how to buy, store and send crypto, and how to cash it out into regular money. If you come across a word you don't know, the glossary has a short definition of it, with a link from there to the full article.
How the reference differs from an exchange
Cryptaurus has no accounts, no trading and no wallets. Crypto is bought, held and transferred on an exchange or in a wallet, and the pages how to choose a crypto exchange and how to choose a crypto wallet explain how to pick one that fits your task. You won't find prices, exchange rates or market news on the site either.
Who makes Cryptaurus
The Cryptaurus editorial team writes and checks the material. That is why each page is signed "Cryptaurus Editorial Team" instead of an author's name and shows the date it was last checked. The editorial policy describes the rules we follow when working with sources, reviewing pages and correcting mistakes.
How to contact the editorial team
Write to [email protected] if you find a mistake or if an explanation is still unclear. Include the page address so we can find the spot faster.
